Coastal luxury home – Sunshine Beach

This coastal luxury home is set in natural bushland only 500m from the beach. With corrosion resistance and bushfire protection on top of the priority list, ForceField® security screens were the obvious choice.

The fact that ForceField® is welded instead of being held together by screws or rivets makes it more corrosion-resistant than other stainless steel security screens. This is reflected in the warranty which recommends cleaning of the powder coated surface every three months in coastal or industrial areas. Some security screens require cleaning as often as every 2-4 weeks to maintain the warranty under these conditions.

Bushfire is a threat to any home set in natural bushland. As one of very few security screens, ForceField® has been tested by the CSIRO. The test exposed a ForceField® window screen to a radiant heat flux level of 60 kw/m2 for 91 minutes. The heat level measured one metre behind the unexposed face of the window screen was approximately 10% of the level measured at the exposed face throughout the test. In other words: ForceField® not only survived the test, it kept 90% of the heat outside.

The proud owners of this beautiful Sunshine Beach home can sit back, relax and enjoy the largely uninterrupted views through the ForceField® security screens. No security screen is stronger or offers better protection from corrosion and bushfire.

Old world charm – Brisbane northside

April 1, 2014
After just 5 months in their new home, Maria and John got the phone call they dreaded: ‘There’s been an attempted burglary at your house’. A neighbour had heard the sound of breaking glass and notified the police. A young mother with a 6 month old baby, Maria didn’t want it to ever happen again. This is her story…

“I had only just left the house when a neighbour heard the sound of breaking glass from our property. She saw a man attempting to gain access and yelled out. Luckily her yelling was enough to scare him away and she called the police.”

“We had only been in the house for 5 months and found the situation very scary – especially since we’re a young family with a baby son. We talked to other home owners in our neighbourhood and they recommended contacting Taplin Security. Bill Ruddle junior, who owns the business with his father, came out and presented our options – it didn’t take long for us to decide on ForceField® security screens.”

“First of all it was the most impressive product in terms of security – which was obviously our main priority. But the looks were equally impressive. The stainless steel mesh is transparent – you don’t feel like you’re in a prison – and it blends in with the style and character of the house. The seamless corners is another design element that lifts ForceField® security screens above the other options we looked at.”

“We had a combination of ForceField® security doors, ForceField® security windows and Prowler Proof insect screens installed throughout our home. The team at Taplin Security was very helpful and the end result is even better than we had expected. Not only do we feel completely safe, the security screens and insect screens have made the house much more liveable. We used to close doors and windows all the time to stop mosquitoes and insects getting inside – installing Prowler Proof products has enabled us to open them and enjoy lovely breezes throughout the house.”

St. John’s College – University of Queensland – Protec

April 29, 2015
St. John’s College – home to 320 university students – installed more than 100 ForceField® security screens in 2014. “We didn’t budget for any new security screens in 2015,” says business manager Erin Dieperink, “but over the summer break we discovered that more than 60 flyscreens needed replacement. Since flyscreens have a short life expectancy in our environment, we decided to buy Prowler Proof security screens with a 10 year replacement warranty instead.”

“Our experience with ForceField® has been brilliant. After more than a year we haven’t had a single problem – and the screens still look brand new. So when I contacted Prowler Proof in regards to new security screens, I had ForceField® in mind. But I had no budget, so I was keen on keeping the cost as low as possible.”

“Prowler Proof had just launched Protec. Protec’s screen is a perforated aluminium sheet rather than ForceField’s stainless steel mesh. Our cost savings would be significant so we decided to get a sample made up. I had concerns about airflow because the aluminium sheet is somewhat thicker than ForceField’s stainless steel mesh. But as it turned out, breezes travel through beautifully.”

“We placed our order for 62 window screens just before the Christmas shutdown – still all screens arrived 7 days later, ready to install. The screens look beautiful – just like with ForceField®, you don’t feel like you’re in prison. Yet you can have confidence they will keep intruders of any size out, and let air and light in. Protec is a fraction darker than ForceField® but that is not necessarily a bad thing since most of the screens are installed in bedrooms.”

“We are not quite done yet with replacing flyscreens with security screens throughout the college. We have exceptional experiences with ForceField ® but if Protec is anywhere near as good, it will be hard to choose next time…”
